"The idea that we’re not just selling a product, but helping to redefine energy infrastructure, keeps me excited every day."
At Exowatt, our team is made up of innovators, strategists, and problem-solvers who are shaping the future of energy. We sat down with CK Umachi, our GTM Lead, to learn more about his journey. He shares his path to Exowatt, what excites him about our mission, and the mindset that drives his work.
“It’s always been about taking the complex and uncertain and turning it into something tangible and scalable”
I pursued engineering due to my curiosity about how things work and a passion for problem-solving. After graduating from MIT, I worked at ExxonMobil and PG&E, including on PG&E's Grid Integration and Innovation team, which exposed me to the challenges and opportunities facing the electric grid.
At Stanford, my MBA allowed me to combine my tech passion with leadership skills, leading me to co-found an AI startup. While working on that company, it became clear that the AI load growth was going to drastically impact the energy landscape. This lightbulb moment is what pushed me to seek out Exowatt where I could drive innovation and commercialization while leveraging my energy background.
For me, it’s always been about taking the complex and uncertain and turning it into something tangible and scalable. Exowatt is the perfect place to do this.
"Every day brings a new challenge.”
As GTM Lead, there is no such thing as a typical day for me as I cover both sales and marketing. However, most days are mix of strategy and execution. I dive into market trends, competitors, and customer needs. From there, it’s about refining our go-to-market strategy: working with product and operations teams, optimizing messaging, creating collateral, and negotiating contracts. Every day brings a new challenge, and that’s what keeps it exciting.
“Change Lives, Change Organizations, and Change the World”.
Exowatt is innovating and pushing the boundary on what’s possible and available in the energy landscape. The impact that I can have at Exowatt is immense as we’re aiming to tackle one of the world’s most pressing issues. And by getting in on the ground floor, the opportunity to grow with the company would be hard to match elsewhere. At Stanford GSB, they push us to “Change Lives, Change Organizations, and Change the World”. Exowatt gives me the opportunity to put this into practice.
Seeing how quickly we moved from concept to execution made it clear I was in the right place."
Very early on in my time at Exowatt, I took ownership of negotiations of our first pilot. This was a all hands on deck moment where product, engineering, supply chain and GTM teams had to align and work together to push forward. We went from ideation to execution at an incredible pace, landing a deal that could shift our trajectory. That moment really solidified what makes Exowatt’s culture special—speed, alignment, and ambition.
Execution and impact matter the most
Big ideas are great, but execution and impact matter more than just being the smartest person in the room. Focus on solving real problems, delivering results, and making others’ lives easier and the rest will follow.
